Dortmund Dominates Bilbao 4-1 in Champions League Home Debut

Borussia Dortmund secured a convincing 4-1 victory over Athletic Bilbao in their UEFA Champions League home debut. The win, which came after a rotated starting lineup, sees Dortmund sit on 4 points after two games in the Champions League phase. Their next opponents are FC Copenhagen on October 21 and Manchester City on November 5, 2025.

Coach Niko Kovac made changes to his lineup, bringing back top scorer Serhou Guirassy and playing Niklas Süle for the first time since July. The strategy paid off as Dortmund controlled the game for a long time. Daniel Svensson opened the scoring, and Carney Chukwuemeka, Guirassy, and Julian Brandt also found the net.

Gorka Guruzeta pulled one back for Bilbao in the 61st minute, making it 2-1. However, Dortmund ensured a clear result with late goals from Guirassy and Brandt, securing a 4-1 win.

Dortmund's next challenge in the UEFA Champions League is against FC Copenhagen on October 21, followed by a match against Manchester City on November 5, 2025. The team will look to build on this victory and continue their strong form in the Champions League.
