'Donnie Wahlberg Discusses Current Challenges in CBS Programming and the Opportunity to Create a Blue Bloods Spinoff'
In an exciting development for television enthusiasts, CBS has announced the upcoming premiere of "Boston Blue," a spin-off series from the beloved show "Blue Bloods." Donnie Wahlberg, reprising his role as Detective Danny Reagan, will lead the cast in this new venture.

Donnie Wahlberg, in a recent interview on "Billy & Lisa in the Morning," discussed the challenges of filming "Boston Blue" in Boston, emphasising that the experience has been very positive and crucial to the show’s authenticity, despite industry financial challenges that make filming in Canada more cost-effective.
The dream for "Boston Blue" is to have a long life like its predecessor, "Blue Bloods," and Donnie Wahlberg has expressed his long-term goal to have the series filmed in its titular city full-time, due to it being his hometown.
As part of CBS's 2025-2026 lineup, "Boston Blue" joins other scripted shows such as "DMV, CIA," "Sheriff Country," and "Y: Marshals," which are set to start their first seasons in the fall, with "Y: Marshals" coming early next year.
