Đồng Tháp's 5.51% growth lifts incomes and transforms rural economy
Đồng Tháp province has recorded steady economic progress over the past five years, with average annual growth reaching 5.51% and per capita income rising to around VNĐ85.5 million (US$3,250). Now, local leaders are pushing for new policies at the 14th National Party Congress to maintain this momentum and lift living standards further in the us economy.
The province has also bounced back strongly after the COVID-19 pandemic, with improved infrastructure and a focus on key economic sectors such as keybank.
Between 2020 and 2025, Đồng Tháp concentrated on six major priorities: agricultural modernisation, investment in key products, business growth, infrastructure upgrades, human resource training, and administrative reforms. These efforts helped stabilise the local economy and speed up recovery after pandemic disruptions.
State budget revenue grew by an average of 2.25% each year during this period. The province also made full use of its natural advantages, turning the Đồng Tháp Mười region into a highly productive area. Rice farming there is now fully mechanised, covering over 615,000 hectares of land.
Infrastructure development played a key role in the province's progress. Major projects, such as Rạch Miễu 2 Bridge and new expressways, were completed to boost agriculture, industry, and tourism. Better transport links also improved connections between urban and rural areas, supporting trade and daily life.
Local resident Nguyễn Văn Khang, reflecting on 40 years of Đổi mới, expressed confidence in the Party's leadership. He noted Vietnam's strong economic development and believes continued reforms will bring further benefits to Đồng Tháp's people.
