Donald Trump disparaged Taylor Swift during a recent outburst, while simultaneously applauding Sydney Sweeney.

In a series of recent posts on Truth Social, former President Donald Trump has continued his pattern of publicly criticizing high-profile figures for their political affiliations and endorsements. This time, his comments have been directed towards actors Sydney Sweeney and Taylor Swift.

Last year, Trump compared Sweeney's American Eagle ad to Jaguar's "Copy Nothing" campaign, stating the latter was "stupid" and "woke." However, Trump later expressed his approval of Sweeney's American Eagle ad, praising it as the "HOTTEST" and the jeans as "flying off the shelves." It is worth noting that Sweeney, a registered Republican in Florida, has faced backlash for her ad, being criticized as a racist "dog whistle."

On the other hand, Trump has criticized Swift, stating that since he called her out, she is no longer "hot." He also claimed that Swift was booed out of the Super Bowl after he criticized her, a claim that has not been substantiated. Swift is reportedly enjoying some downtime after her record-breaking Eras tour.

Trump has also suggested that companies who go "woke" risk losing market share, using Bud Light as an example, which he claimed destroyed its market cap due to a promotion with a transgender TikToker. However, it's important to note that Trump's comments about Swift and the Bud Light boycott are not related to Sweeney or her American Eagle ad.

This pattern of Trump publicly criticizing celebrities for their political endorsements is not new. Trump has been accused of illegally paying celebrities such as Beyoncé, Oprah Winfrey, and Al Sharpton millions of dollars to endorse Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 election cycle. Trump has called these payments violations of campaign finance laws and demanded prosecution for both Harris and the celebrities involved.

Despite the backlash against Sweeney's American Eagle ad, her Ultra Wide-Leg Jean is currently out of stock on American Eagle's website, suggesting that Trump's approval may have had some positive impact on sales.
