Donald Gere asserts that Donald Trump has the capability to put an end to the chaos in Gaza within a single day
Last night, a star-studded charity event titled 'Together For Palestine' was held at London's iconic Wembley Arena. The event, aimed at raising funds for Palestinian-led organisations, saw the participation of celebrities like Brian Eno, Richard Gere, Riz Ahmed, Guy Pearce, Nicola Coughlan, Benedict Cumberbatch, Florence Pugh, and many more.
The funds raised will be distributed to organisations such as Taawon, Palestine Children's Relief Fund, and Palestine Medical Relief Service. The event was also available as a livestream, allowing a global audience to participate and support the cause.
Richard Gere, a prominent figure at the event, called for direct action from politicians to end the ongoing conflict in Gaza. He went a step further, urging US President Donald Trump to take immediate steps to resolve the crisis.
However, Trump's stance on Gaza has been a subject of controversy. He has publicly supported a plan, the GREAT Trust, that involves the US taking over Gaza and transforming it into a "Riviera of the Middle East." This plan, which includes controversial remarks about relocating Gaza’s population and US governance over the territory for ten years, is not framed as a traditional peace treaty but rather a developmental and control scheme. Trump's administration opposes Palestinian statehood, viewing Hamas as the main obstacle to peace and hostage release.
The ongoing conflict in Gaza has been a source of concern for multiple UN human-rights experts and UN bodies, who have stated that Israel's military actions amount to genocide. The International Court of Justice has found these claims plausible. However, Israel rejects these accusations and denies committing any war crimes.
The situation in Gaza is acknowledged to be "entirely man-made." Since October 2023, over 61,000 Palestinians have been killed, according to the Gaza Health Ministry. A famine is currently taking place in Gaza, as confirmed by The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC). Several aid organizations have accused Israel of "systematic obstruction" when it comes to food entering the Gaza Strip.
As the world continues to watch the developments in Gaza, events like 'Together For Palestine' serve as a reminder of the urgent need for action and support for the people of Palestine.
