Jaime Cordero's Iron Fist Rules in Prague: A Dominant KO Victory
Dominating Prague's MMA scene, Germany's esteemed MMA royalty wields unyielding control
The fiery spectacle of MMA unfolded in a Prague football club's stadium, with Germany's own Jaime Cordero, affectionately known as "The Terminator," leaving an indelible impact on the crowd of 27,000.
Three Germans took on the challenge, but it was Stuttgart's Alina Dalaslan, dubbed the "MMA Princess with the Iron Fist," and Bremen's Jaime Cordero who emerged victorious.
A Thrilling Victory for Dalaslan
Facing a seasoned opponent in Roza Gumienna, Dalaslan endured a tough start, finding herself at the receiving end of Gumienna's kicks. However, she quickly found her rhythm and floored the Polish fighter with a series of swift hooks and precise jabs. Elbow strikes narrowly missed Gumienna's head, but made their mark nonetheless.
In the second round, Dalaslan intensified the pressure, pushing Gumienna back and exploiting gaps in her defense. The underdog wobbled but managed to regain her footing. It was in the third round that drama unfolded. Dalaslan knocked Gumienna down with a series of push kicks, and when she got up, she met with a flurry of hard punches from the German. Gumienna collapsed under the onslaught, and the referee stepped in to end the fight. Dalaslan's victory fulfilled the high expectations and solidified her presence in her weight class in Oktagon.
Cordero's Impressive TKO Victory
Following Dalaslan was Jaime Cordero, who faced off against David Hozek in the cage. The first round started with a scare as the Czech grabbed Cordero's leg during a kick, taking him to the ground. Cordero skillfully defended the bad position, turned his opponent, and unleashed a barrage of elbow strikes. The German then caught Hozek off guard with a surprise leg lock, forcing the Czech to tap out. However, the referee didn't witness the tap and allowed the fight to continue.
In the second round, Cordero continued to impose his patented strategy. He brought Hozek to the ground with a takedown and peppered him with elbow strikes, opening deep cuts around Hozek's eye area. The referee stopped the fight after Hozek signaled that he could no longer see. Cordero was declared the winner by technical knockout.
Solaja's Close Encounter
Danijel Solaja, a Düsseldorf-based fighter from the UFD Gym, opened the event against Czech Jan Stanovsky. Despite Stanovsky's miss weight and intentions to take the fight to the ground, Solaja landed the superior strikes while Stanovsky attempted takedowns. Towards the end of the round, Stanovsky managed to bring the fight to the ground, but Solaja had already inflicted damage. In the second round, the home favorite focused on ground skills, but Solaja maintained the upper hand as a striker.
The submission attempts that Stanovsky aimed for, Solaja defended, until he made a mistake in the third round. At that point, Solaja was already leading on the scorecards. Both fighters had returned to ground fighting, but Stanovsky failed again with his choke attempts, yet managed to grab Solaja's arm while escaping. Solaja tapped out, and the Czech secured the victory.
Jaime Cordero, a German mixed martial artist based in Bremen, has made a name for himself in the Oktagon MMA promotion's middleweight division. He currently boasts a record of 8 wins, 2 losses, and 1 no contest. Cordero isn't just focused on his fighting career but is also heavily invested in coaching and mentoring aspiring MMA talent. In his pursuit of giving back to the sport, he is in the process of opening his own gym and plans to dedicate himself even more to coaching after retiring from active competition. Fatherhood recently added new motivation to Cordero, transforming his approach to fighting and life, pushing him to work harder for the future of his family.
