In a surprising turn of events, Dominic Calvert-Lewin has signed a three-year deal with Leeds United, following his departure from Everton after nine years. The striker, who scored 71 goals in 273 games for the Toffees, becomes a free agent and joins the newly promoted Premier League side.

Calvert-Lewin's impressive tenure at Everton saw him score the winning goal against Crystal Palace that kept the club in the Premier League at the end of the 2021/22 season. He was also named Everton's Player of the Season for the 2020/21 campaign, and holds the third most Premier League goals in the club's history with 57.

The striker has also represented England at the international level, earning 11 caps, including his last during Euro 2020 in their quarter-final win over Ukraine.

Calvert-Lewin was reportedly a target for Aston Villa and Sunderland, but it appears that Leeds United was his ultimate destination. Sunderland, however, opted to sign Marc Guiu on loan from Chelsea instead of Calvert-Lewin.

Calvert-Lewin has held talks with three Premier League clubs: Manchester United, Newcastle United, and Leeds United, but it is unclear if he will sign for his next club before the start of the Premier League season.

Meanwhile, the new Premier League season kicks off with Liverpool vs Bournemouth, a match that will be broadcast live on talkSPORT.
