Dominant forces in VALORANT gaming: Unveiling the leading teams thriving in the 2025 Version of the Champions Tournament (VCT)
VALORANT Masters Toronto 2025, an exciting esports tournament for the popular game VALORANT, took place from June 7 to 22, 2025, at the Enercare Centre in Toronto. Organized by Riot Games as part of the 2025 VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT), the event boasted a $1,000,000 prize pool and attracted eight of the best teams from around the world.
The tournament culminated with Paper Rex emerging as champions, defeating Fnatic 3-1 in the grand final. This marked Paper Rex’s first international Masters-level title, earning them $350,000 and 7 VCT championship points.
Among the participating teams were Paper Rex (from the Pacific region), Fnatic (Europe), G2 Esports (Americas), Bilibili Gaming (China), Karmine Corp (EMEA), XLG Esports (China), and several others. XLG Esports, despite being a part of the event, was eliminated early, finishing 7–8th, while G2 Esports managed to secure a Top 4 spot.
The competition featured a best-of-5 grand final format, with intense matches across maps like Sunset, Icebox, Pearl, and Lotus. Some of the notable teams to watch at the event were Fnatic, who put up a strong fight in the grand final.
In addition to Paper Rex, the winning team consisted of Jake 'Boaster' Howlett, Emir 'Alfajer' Beder, Timofey 'Chronicle' Khromov, Kajetan 'kaajak' Haremski, and Austin 'crashies' Roberts from Fnatic. Other notable players included Zachary 'zekken' Patrone, Sean 'bang' Bezerra, Jordan 'Zellsis' Montemurro, and Nathan 'leaf' Orf, who are members of Sentinels, one of the participating teams.
VALORANT Masters Toronto 2025 showcased the peak of the competitive VALORANT season for 2025, highlighting the skills and strategies of top global teams. The event served as a stepping stone for the teams, with the winner, Paper Rex, qualifying for the VCT Champions 2025 in Paris later in the year.
