Ward, a defensive back who spent nine seasons with San Francisco before joining Houston in 2023, is currently on the NFL Commissioner Exempt List. This status, which was imposed by the NFL under Commissioner Roger Goodell during the 2023 offseason, is for players in unusual situations.
