The Slovenian cycling team is gearing up for the UCI Road World Championships, set to take place in Rwanda. Primoz Roglic, Matej Mohoric, Luka Mezgec, Gal Glivar, Matevz Govekar, Jaka Primozic, and Matic Zumer will represent Slovenia in the road race, with the absence of Jan Tratnik due to injuries.

Domen Novak, a 30-year-old cyclist from Slovenia, will be a part of the team. Novak, who is unsure of his role in the squad, mentioned that he will start pulling after 150 kilometers and try to make a selection.

The team will miss the leadership of Tratnik, who was the last teammate to ride with Tadej Pogacar before his solo attack in Zurich last year. Pogacar, the Slovenian cyclist who won the rainbow jersey in the UCI Road World Championships last year, has shown excellent form in Canada.

Novak expressed excitement about racing in Africa and admitted that he is not in as good shape as last year but is confident he will step up for the Worlds. He also mentioned that racing with Pogacar is a dream situation for him, even though it can sometimes be more pressured.

The course for the UCI Road World Championships in Rwanda is demanding, with a lot of climbing similar to a Classic race. The discussions about the Slovenian strategy, including Roglic's role, will be made once they arrive at the UCI Road World Championships.

Novak and Pogacar are teammates at UAE Team Emirates-XRG, which gives Novak an advantage in understanding Pogacar's strategies. The Slovenian team is aiming to replicate last year's success, but the defending of the title will present new challenges.

Despite the challenges, everyone in the Slovenian team will try their best to win. Novak stated, 'We are all motivated to bring home the gold for Slovenia.' The UCI Road World Championships will be an exciting event, showcasing the talent and determination of the Slovenian cycling team.
