Born and raised in Tennessee, Parton released her debut album, "Hello, I'm Dolly," in 1967, marking the beginning of her illustrious career. By the 1970s, she had a series of hits that solidified her status as a country music legend. The 1980s saw her become a huge star, making her movie debut in the screwball comedy 9 To 5.
Parton's music career is marked by an impressive list of achievements. Beyond music, Parton is recognised for her philanthropy. Her Imagination Library free-books campaign and efforts in poverty relief, education, and medical research have contributed to her being honoured as a Guinness World Records ICON.
The Icon certificate was presented to Parton at her Nashville studios on August 5, celebrated as "Dolly Parton Day." Upon receiving this honour, Parton expressed humility and pride.
Parton joins an esteemed group of stars who have been awarded the Icon certificate, including Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Drake, Sir Paul McCartney, and Sir Elton John.
