Doja Cat Unveils Launch Date for Her New Album, "Vie"

Pop sensation Doja Cat has announced the release of her highly-anticipated fifth studio album, Vie, scheduled for September 26. The artist revealed the news on social media, accompanied by a video of her posing in front of the iconic Eiffel Tower.

Vie, which translates to 'life' in French, is set to be a pop-driven exploration of love, romance, sex, and the complexities of relationships. Doja Cat described the album as a return to her pop sensibilities, emphasizing pop music as a universal language that resonates widely.

In an interview with Variety, Doja Cat framed Vie as a glamorous, thoughtful journey into emotional expression and interpersonal dynamics. The album promises vibrant, nostalgic beats and a modern twist, inspired by French romance and 1980s pop influences.

The album's promotional rollout, including the "Vie hotline" for fans who "feel too much, too fast," indicates an intent to foster intimate connections through her music. This aligns with the thematic focus on intense feelings and relational discourse in Vie.

Doja Cat's last full-length studio album, Scarlet, was released in September 2023, and its deluxe edition, titled Scarlet 2 Claude, was released in April 2024. The deluxe edition featured guest appearances from ASAP Rocky and Teezo Touchdown, and it served as a seven-track addendum to the original album. Two singles from Scarlet, "Paint the Town Red" and "Agora Hills", peaked at Nos. 1 and 7 on the Hot 100, respectively.

During her headlining set at the Global Citizen Festival 2024 in New York City, Doja Cat spoke out against injustices around the globe. She performed songs like "Jealous Type" at Outside Lands and Club Oasis, and in the video for the song, the phrase "Je sais que tu es ma vie," or "I know you are my life," is repeated.

Doja Cat has been teasing her fifth album since at least last October and has mentioned specific regions suffering injustices, including Gaza, Ukraine, Sudan, the Congo, and various other parts of the world. She emphasized the power of the audience to bring change, love, and hope to those suffering globally.

Stay tuned for more updates on Doja Cat's upcoming album Vie, a sophisticated, pop-centric, and emotionally rich project that promises to be a musical journey like no other.
