Doha Assault: Identifying Israel's Potential Next Victim

In a series of escalating events, Qatar has become the latest victim of Israeli aggression. On September 10, 2025, Israeli forces launched an attack on a Hamas target in Doha, marking the seventh country Israel has unilaterally attacked.

The Doha attack occurred during a meeting of people summoned to discuss the terms of a possible cease-fire between Israel and Hamas, raising concerns about the fragile peace process in the region. Western countries that actively supported this attack included the United States, whose embassy warned its citizens and whose administration was reportedly informed and gave approval for the strike.

The Arab states, particularly those in the region, must act together and deter Israel, especially its supporters. The defense front of Arab states starts in Palestine, and losing Palestine means losing territorial integrity and political independence. The weakening of the deterrent defense line by selling the Palestinian cause, as seen during the Abraham Accords process, has only exacerbated the situation.

Israel's long-term expansionist political and military strategy poses a significant threat to all regional states. Israel has declared it will prevent any regional power from rebuilding the state structure in Lebanon or Syria. This strategy has been evident since October 7, 2023, when Israel began attacking the occupied Palestinian territories, Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen.

The U.S. military base, al-Udeid, based in Doha, is crucial for Qatar's national security and defense. However, the attack on Doha may signal a shift in Israel's tactics, targeting not just regional powers but also key allies. If Qatar does not react to the Doha attack, it may lose its influence and effectiveness in regional politics, similar to Kuwait after the Iraq invasion in 1990.

Arab states that remain indifferent to Israeli attacks against Lebanon and Syria may indirectly pave the way for Israel to punish them as well. The Gulf states and some other Arab countries declared the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas as terrorist organizations, indirectly destroying their own regional defense line and buffer zone.

Israel does not want any regional state to become powerful and remain stable. Therefore, all regional states must be alert against the Israeli threat. A concrete step must be taken by Qatar to maintain its consideration in regional and global politics. The future of the Middle East hangs in the balance, and it is crucial for all parties to work towards peace and stability.
