VELEZ-MALAGA, 16 JUN - A ginger-furred, life-vest-wearing four-legged rescuer named Nilo has joined forces with four Labradors on Spain's Las Lindas beach to help lifeguards bring people safely to shore. If you spot this unusual poodle on the beach, don't be surprised, as he's a rare yet capable member of the team.
Nilo, a playful two-year-old Standard Poodle, might seem out of place among the typical Labradors and Newfoundland dogs used in beach rescues. But this isn't just any poodle — Nilo's history and abilities set him apart.
His trainer, canine guru Miguel Sánchez-Merenciano, 45, explained to Reuters that Nilo took the lead in the water before calling on fellow lifesavers to help in case of a struggle.
