In the bottom of the eighth inning, Freddie Freeman drew a bases-loaded walk, tying the game once again for the Dodgers. However, the Blue Jays had the last word, with Ernie Clement hitting a solo home run in the ninth inning, securing a 5-4 victory for Toronto.

Dodgers right-hander Tyler Glasnow pitched 5 2/3 innings, allowing two runs and four hits, striking out eight and walking four. He was replaced by a reliever in the sixth inning, after giving up the run to France. Alex Vesia, another Los Angeles reliever, gave up the game-winning home run to Clement in the ninth inning.

Eric Lauer, a Toronto left-hander, started the game for the Blue Jays but only pitched three innings, allowing three runs and six hits. Despite his record of 7-2 in 12 career starts against the Los Angeles Dodgers with a 2.63 ERA, Lauer struggled in this game.
