Dodgers get tripped up during a highlight-worthy play by the Angels, as Shohei Ohtani's lineout to Zach Neto results in two Dodgers being caught off base.
In an exciting turn of events during the ongoing season, the Los Angeles Angels managed to pull off a remarkable defensive feat against their city rivals, the Los Angeles Dodgers. On Tuesday night, the Angels executed their eighth triple play in franchise history, marking their first since August 18, 2023.
The triple play was initiated by shortstop Zach Neto, who caught a line drive from Shohei Ohtani. Neto's quick reflexes allowed him to step on second base, doubling off Miguel Rojas, who was on second base at the time. Neto then threw the ball to first baseman Nolan Schanuel, who tagged out Dalton Rushing, who had attempted to sneak back to first base after being tagged out.
The triple play preserved a 5-5 tie in the Freeway Series, the latest edition of the competition between the two Los Angeles-based teams. Despite the exciting play, it did not result in a lead change in the game.
The Angels have had a successful season so far, having won all four games against the Dodgers. This triple play adds another memorable moment to their impressive run against their city rivals.
