Los Angeles Dodgers' Michael Kopech Sidelined with Knee Injury, Will Klein Recalled

In a blow to the Los Angeles Dodgers' pitching staff, right-hander Michael Kopech has been placed on the 15-day injured list due to a torn meniscus in his right knee. The 29-year-old, who joined the team on September 1 after undergoing surgery, is currently uncertain for the postseason due to his recent injury and inconsistent performance.

Since his return from knee surgery, Kopech has struggled, walking eight batters over 2 2/3 innings in his last four appearances. This poor performance has raised concerns, especially considering his previous shoulder injury that kept him out at the start of the season.

Manager Dave Roberts is hoping to "reset" Kopech with the intention of keeping him available for the postseason. However, Roberts has also acknowledged that Kopech's pitching hasn't met his usual standard this season, and he's been dealing with some physical issues.

To fill the void left by Kopech, the Dodgers have recalled right-handed pitcher Will Klein from Triple-A Oklahoma City. The 25-year-old has shown some success in the majors this season, boasting a 3.38 ERA. Klein could provide valuable relief pitching depth for the Dodgers in the postseason tournament.

Kopech, despite his struggles, has managed a 2.45 ERA in 11 innings this season. He's walked 13 batters and struck out 12. However, the pitcher himself has described his performance as "pitchable," but not the standard he usually maintains.

Sadly, Kopech has spent more time on the injured list than the active roster this season, a fact that has undoubtedly hampered his consistency. As the Dodgers gear up for the postseason, they will be hoping for Kopech's swift recovery and return to form. For now, their focus lies on the current roster, with Klein stepping up to provide relief pitching in Kopech's absence.
