Documentary featuring Ozzy Osbourne postponed due to respect for family's request
The BBC's much-anticipated documentary, Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home, has been delayed to respect the Osbourne family's wishes during a challenging period in their lives. Originally scheduled to air on August 18, 2025, the broadcast has been postponed, and a new transmission date will be announced soon[1].
Filmed over three years, the documentary offers an intimate portrayal of the Osbourne family, including Sharon, Kelly, and Jack, as they navigate the dramatic consequences of Ozzy's ill health. The project evolved into a one-hour film as Ozzy's health deteriorated, with the documentary capturing his heroic struggle to get fit enough to perform[2][3].
The documentary also showcases Ozzy's reuniting with Black Sabbath on stage as part of the Back To The Beginning farewell concert in Birmingham[4]. The hour-long film also depicts the family's attempts to move back to the UK[5].
Last month, a funeral cortege traveled through Birmingham to pay tribute to Ozzy Osbourne, with fans throwing flowers at the hearse as it passed slowly through the city[6]. Musicians from Bostin Brass played Black Sabbath songs to accompany the cortege[7].
Kelly Osbourne is quoted in the film saying, "Iron Man wasn't really made of iron"[8]. Sharon and the couple's children were seen wiping away tears when they arrived at the Black Sabbath bench[9].
The documentary was originally conceived as a series, announced in 2022, and was called Home To Roost[10]. The BBC moved the documentary in the schedules due to family wishes[11].
