DNC Post-Mortem Excludes Examination of Presidential Campaigns, Accord ing to New York Times Report
Democratic National Committee Conducts Post-Election Review
The Democratic National Committee (DNC) is currently undergoing an 'after-action review' of the 2024 election, a process that was initiated in March. This review, which is still under review by Democratic operative Paul Rivera, involves interviews with officials from all 50 states.
The DNC has been facing controversy recently, with multiple resignations and party infighting. Notably, Randi Weingarten, AFT chief, and Lee Saunders, President of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, recently stepped down, citing issues with party leadership.
The focus of the review is not on the presidential campaign but on the election as a whole. It aims to examine outside groups and super PACs, specifically their spending on advertising and voter turnout efforts. The review is not expected to evaluate if then-Vice President Kamala Harris was the best person to run in place of Biden, nor will it analyze key strategic decisions such as her team's repeated referral of her opponent as a fascist.
Similarly, the review will not look at any strategic decisions made by the campaign, such as whether then-President Joe Biden should have stayed in the race or dropped out sooner. Instead, it is described as an effort to create an actionable playbook for future elections, not a finger-pointing exercise.
Rosemary Boeglin, DNC spokesperson, stated that the review aims to bring Democrats together to win for upcoming and future cycles. Boeglin also emphasized the need for structural changes in how Democratic campaigns are run.
Key officials have been appointed to executive positions for the 2024 post-election investigation, but specific names have not been publicly disclosed as of now.
