DNC Opting Out of Examining Presidential Campaigns, According to New York Times Report
The Democratic National Committee (DNC) is currently conducting an 'after-action review' of the 2024 election, with the focus on outside groups and super PACs, specifically their spending on advertising and voter turnout efforts.
Lindsay Kornick, an associate editor for Fox News Digital, has been following the review closely. Story tips can be sent to [email protected] and on Twitter: @lmkornick.
The review, which is still under the scrutiny of Democratic operative Paul Rivera, who has conducted over 200 interviews with officials from all 50 states, is not expected to analyze if Vice President Kamala Harris was the best person to run as a presidential candidate or delve into any strategic decisions made by the campaign, such as whether then-President Joe Biden should have stayed in the race or dropped out sooner.
Rosemary Boeglin, DNC spokesperson, stated that the review is aimed at uniting Democrats and making structural changes in campaign running. She also highlighted that the challenges facing the Democratic party are rooted before the 2024 cycle.
The comparison of the review to eating at a steakhouse and then reviewing the salad suggests it may focus on peripheral issues rather than the main campaign. However, no specific information about the focus on outside groups, super PACs, or their spending on advertising and voter turnout efforts has been mentioned yet.
The DNC's post-election review is not a finger-pointing exercise, but aims to create an actionable playbook for future elections. This comes amidst multiple resignations and party infighting that have recently affected the Democratic National Committee.
Last month, Randi Weingarten and Lee Saunders, leaders of the American Federation of Teachers and the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees respectively, resigned from their positions due to issues with party leadership.
Fox News Digital reached out to the DNC for comment but did not receive a response at the time of publication. The report on the 2024 Democratic presidential election autopsy is still under review.
