Dmitry Kokarev Wins Men's Yakutia Chess Cup, Women's Winner Unannounced

The Women's Classical Chess Cup in Yakutia concluded without a public announcement of the winner. Meanwhile, Dmitry Kokarev emerged victorious in the men's category, claiming his 14th stage of the Russian Cup.

The tournament, held from January 23 to 31, 2024, saw 58 participants from 11 regions. Mikhail Kryukov oversaw the event as chief arbiter. Kokarev's victory earned him a unique Yakut national vessel cup, an exclusive medal, and a cash prize of 250,000 rubles. He praised the organization and hospitality.

ALROSA, along with other organizations, funded the event, which was organized by the Ministry of Sport of Russia and the Russian Chess Federation. Aleksey Grybnev and Dmitry Kravkin finished second and third respectively. Awards were also given to those placing 4th to 10th, along with special prizes for women, veterans, boys, and girls. The Cup of the Head of Yakutia, held as part of the Russian Cup, featured master classes, simultaneous games, and coaching courses.

Despite the winner of the Women's Classical Chess Cup remaining unreported, the men's category saw a clear victory for Dmitry Kokarev. His success was celebrated with a distinctive cup and substantial prize money. The event, supported by various institutions and organizations, offered a comprehensive chess experience for all participants.
