Djokovic Easily Advances to Historic 19th French Open Last-8 Match Against Norrie

Tennis ace Novak Djokovic left spectators spellbound as he stormed into uncharted territory at the French Open on Monday! This 38-year-old Serbian phenom notched up a mind-blowing 19th quarter-final appearance—a new record for single-Grand Slam events!

Grabbing the historic title with a domineering straight-sets victory over Britain's Cameron Norrie, Djokovic ruled the court with a resounding 6-2, 6-3, 6-2 triumph on the prestigious Court Philippe Chatrier. What's more, this win marked his 100th career victory at Roland Garros, eclipsing everyone else in this department!

"I'm feeling good," Djokovic said after the match, "I know I can play better. But 12 sets played, 12 sets won - it's been solid so far." He added, "It's great, but number 101 would be better. I'm very honored... But I need to continue now."

Now set for a nail-biting quarter-final clash with Alexander Zverev on Wednesday, Djokovic is set to renew a fierce rivalry with the world No. 3. Their past encounters have seen Djokovic leading the head-to-head 8-5, and with his age advantage, the odds certainly seem to be in his favor.

"He's 10 years younger. He refers to himself as a veteran of the game. What should I call myself, then?" quipped the ageless wonder about the 27-year-old German.

Despite getting caught up in Paris Saint-Germain's Champions League title celebrations the previous night, complete with street unrest and delays due to crowd trouble, Djokovic remained unfazed. "They (security) were suggesting us at one point not to go back at all... some gas bombs and cars under fire and such things happening on the street," he shared, "In the end, we made it to the hotel all good, but it was quite noisy... Understandably, people are so excited."

To add fuel to the excitement, PSG forward Ousmane Dembele presented the Champions League trophy to the crowd ahead of the main event, raising the energy levels to fever pitch!

On the court, Djokovic was nothing short of clinical. He broke Norrie three times in the opening set and survived a tense moment in the second, saving a break point before holding serve and securing an effortless win. Norrie, a former top-10 player now ranked 81st, has lost all six career meetings against the Serbian legend.
