Division 2 marks its 7th year with a strong momentum, unveiling the highly anticipated Battle for Brooklyn DLC.

The Division 2 returns to its roots today with the launch of the Battle for Brooklyn DLC, marking a full circle for the popular game series. This expansion takes players back to the Brooklyn neighborhood of New York City, a location pivotal to the original game but not extensively explored until the DLC's introduction.

The Battle for Brooklyn, a paid expansion, offers a new story campaign, a new map to explore, and new enemies to combat—the Cleaners, familiar foes with an added twist and a terrifying new weapon: the purple flamethrower. This weapon not only sets players on fire but also gradually erodes their armor.

The DLC's original launch was delayed due to Massive Entertainment's decision to invest more time in refining The Division 2's core gameplay, systems, and overall experience. This move enabled the game to sustain its prolonged life, leading to the already confirmed sequel.

In an unusual turn of events for the gaming community, Massive Entertainment decided to heed player feedback and extend The Division 2's lifespan, rather than shifting resources to Avatar and Star Wars projects at Ubisoft. In the interim, the game has seen the addition of new modes, a revitalized storyline, a revamped seasonal model, and now, Battle for Brooklyn.

To facilitate onboarding for new players, Massive Entertainment has also been enhancing the player experience, aware that The Division 2 continues to attract new gamers despite its seventh year. The game is now also available on Xbox Game Pass on both PC and console, offering players access to the full game, including the first expansion, at no additional cost.

For those new to The Division 2, a level 40 boost is available to quickly bring a new character up to speed. While the newcomers can dive right into Battle for Brooklyn, seasoned players are encouraged to revisit earlier campaigns to fully appreciate the game's intense storyline.

Compared to the Warlords of New York expansion, Battle for Brooklyn is smaller in scope, offering a “mini campaign” and only two new named zones. However, priced at just $15, it represents excellent value for a game that has not sought payment for any additional content in five years.

The Battle for Brooklyn DLC is expected to go live sometime during May 27. The game downtime is initially planned for seven hours, which places its release in the afternoon or early evening in Europe.

The Division 2: Battle for Brooklyn is available for purchase at xbox.com for $14.99. With its return to the series' roots and the addition of new challenges, it promises to be an exciting addition to The Division 2 experience.
