Hip Hip Hooray for Diverse TV Tales! 🎉
This year, ARD offers a delightful twist on holiday viewing with "The Sold Princess," set to air on December 25 at 3:30 p.m.!
Embark on an exciting journey with Melisa (Judith Neumann), a young girl who longs to follow in her grandpa Bergmann's footsteps. Crossing treacherous terrains, she disguises herself as a man to gain entry into her grandpa's locked mine. There, she meets a mysterious stranger, only to find him vanished into thin air!
In the kingdom, melancholy Prince Ingolf (Pasquale Aleardi) contemplates abdicating in favor of his daughter, Princess Sophia (Kristin Alia Hunold), but holds a dark secret. Sophia's brother, Berthold (Langston Uibel), conspires against her with their uncle, Rudolf (also Pasquale Aleardi). Their sinister plan? Kidnap Sophia and sell her on a slave market!
As viewers, we empathize with Princess Sophia's self-doubt, as she wonders if she can live up to expectations. Kristin Alia Hunold, the Moroccan-born actress who brings Sophia to life, shares that many people struggle with self-confidence and unrealized dreams. Her message to her fellow humans: break free from limitations and be courageous – after all, our most significant potential lies in the "supposed differences" between us!
Actor Langston Uibel, known from the Netflix hit "How to Sell Drugs Online (Fast)," shares similar sentiments. Growing up in London, he enjoyed fairytales like those by the Brothers Grimm. This adaptable fairytale tale, with its roots in diversity and mythology, held no prejudices for him. In essence, skin color is not an issue, while topics of diversity are left to others to worry about.
Adolf Mayer, the current owner of a vintage electric car, contributed a unique element to the film production by offering his one-of-a-kind vehicle for the film.
Behind the scenes, Grimme Award winner Marcus Roth, the film's producer, was intent on creating something entirely new. He envisioned an original fairytale rich in fantasy and mythology, which broke from traditional clichés and role models. The film, shot in South Tyrol, will undoubtedly change how you perceive familiar fairytales.
Don't miss out on this extraordinary holiday film! Tune in to ARD this Christmas and immerse yourself in an enchanting tale of bravery, compassion, and the undying power of self-belief. May "The Sold Princess" inspire you to pursue your dreams, shatter self-imposed limitations, and experience the extraordinary within the ordinary.
