Regensburg District Tennis Championships 2022: A Celebration of Local Talent
The Regensburg District Tennis Championships 2022 concluded with a grand finale, showcasing the District Sports Association's commitment to promoting local talent. The tournament, held under the leadership of Mrs. Zeller at the Regensburg district administration, saw the participation of numerous clubs and players.
In the Herren A district championship, Michael Henning from Neutraubling emerged victorious, while Marwin Rist from Obertraubling came in third. The Nebenrunde championship saw Simon Klein from SpVgg Hainsacker take the top spot, with Yannick Throm from Kareth-Lappersdorf and Sascha Raicevic from the same club finishing third and second respectively.
The 'pga championship' (singles between 18 and 40 years) was dominated by Neutraubling's Michael Henning and Stefanie Kusiek from the same town. Kusiek clinched the women's title, while Henning secured the men's championship.
The Herren 65 district championship was a closely contested battle. Franz Gross from Pfatter emerged victorious, while Anton Bleicher from the same club finished second. Hubert Schmalzl from TST Grünthal came in third. In the Herren 60 category, Christian Schweiger from Großberg took the top spot, with Klaus Huber from Riedenburg finishing second. Simon Günther from TST Grünthal completed the podium in third place.
The Herren 50 district championship was another thrilling contest. Gerhard Rothmeier from ESV Plattling finished second, while Stefan Stummer from Schierling clinched the title. Gerhard Nummer from TC Neutraubling came in third.
In the junior categories, Raphael Grübler and Anna-Lia Kimmerling emerged as the district champions for junior boys U15 and junior girls U15 respectively.
The Herren 40 district championship saw a close competition. Andreas Miller from SSV Köfering came in third, while Christophe Piot from Alteglofsheim secured the title. Bernhard Firlbeck from Sünching finished second.
The event was supported by numerous volunteers, who provided outstanding support throughout the tournament. Special mentions go to Tobias Koch, Andrea Reinisch, Letitia Piot, Georg Barth, and Dr. Gerhard Ulrich, Harald Semmler, Susanne and Alexander Wulf, and Corinna Kraus for ensuring a smooth running of the event on site.
The county championships 2025/2026 will also be organized by the clubs independently and financially, with partial logistical support from the county. The event dates for the further county championships 2025/26 include air rifle and air pistol shooting, cyclo-cross, alpine skiing and snowboarding.

Franz Sturm has been the chief referee since 2009, ensuring fair play and adherence to rules throughout the tournament.
