The Free Voters (Freie Wähler) in Eichstätt have voiced their discontent over the party's decline in votes following the federal election, nearby Kipfenberg. The FREIE WÄHLER's share of votes dropped by 3.1% nationally and 4.3% in Bavaria, prompting the district representatives to take action.
Kreisvorsitzender Anton Haunsberger, along with local association members, has been discussing the implications of the election results in various meetings since the vote. Haunsberger criticized the treatment of the FREIE WÄHLER's 'No' vote on the relaxation of the debt brake for a 500 billion infrastructure program, claiming that it was not handled wisely.
Katrin Müller, the Kreisvorsitzende of the Youth Free Voters, echoed the sentiment, stating that the party's purpose is rooted in representing the interests of the community, even if this means going against a coalition partner. Martina Edl, the 3rd mayor of Eichstätt, added that the Minister of Health and the CSU are passively watching the clinic’s demise to avoid controversy.
Markus Weber, a district council candidate from Stammham, voiced a similar concern, emphasizing the importance of addressing the population’s needs. The FREIE WÄHLER are committed to advocating for the concerns of their members at higher association levels and in district/state executive boards and the state parliamentary faction.
