District has seen successful completion of training - 18 newly trained squad leaders in the EN region now ready to serve
The Ennepe-Ruhr District Fire Department recently concluded a five-week Squad Leader Training Course, which saw 18 participants from eight different district cities come together to learn and grow.
The comprehensive training, designed to prepare participants for real-life deployments, covered a range of topics including hazards at the scene, structural engineering, preventive fire protection, and fire safety watch. Technical assistance and exercises according to the Fire Service Regulations 3 (FwDv 3) were also part of the training.
Throughout the course, the participants not only honed their technical skills but also formed strong friendships and shared experiences. The newfound camaraderie created a robust network that is expected to continue beyond the course.
The training emphasised leading a squad, communicating with the unit leader, and interior attack in a burning building. Volunteer instructors from Ennepetal, Gevelsberg, Wetter (Ruhr), and Herdecke shared their expertise during the training, providing invaluable guidance and support.
Participants expressed gratitude towards the instructors for their respectful and effective guidance, and praised the course for its enriching and enjoyable nature, despite the challenges it presented.
Upon successful completion of exams covering theoretical, oral, and practical components, each participant received their certificates.

The importance of solid knowledge and practical training was demonstrated through this training, and the strong network formed during the course is a testament to its success. The participants will carry these experiences and skills with them as they continue their service in the fire department.
