Disruptive Activity on Railway Traconnections/Federal Law Enforcement Agencies Identify Potential Threats

On the morning of April 5, an unfortunate incident occurred on the European route near Willstätt, resulting in disrupted rail traffic. An ICE train ran over concrete slabs that had been placed on the tracks, causing a cable for signal control to be severed at around 05:41.

As a result, the level crossing gates remained permanently closed, and train traffic was temporarily suspended during the repair period. This unfortunate turn of events led to minor delays in the rail service.

DB technicians swiftly responded to the situation, repairing the cable and restoring the signal control function. However, the extent of the property damage caused by the incident is still being determined.

The Federal Police have initiated an investigation into this dangerous interference with rail traffic. At this time, they have no information about a possible suspect. For further inquiries, the Federal Police Inspectorate Offenburg can be contacted. Their contact details are: Dieter Hutt, phone number 0781/9190-1010, email address [email protected], and Twitter handle @bpol_bw.

The public is reminded to report any suspicious activities near railways to the authorities to ensure the safety of everyone. The investigation is ongoing, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
