In a shocking turn of events, the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) has been faced with a recurring issue of sex toys being thrown onto the court during games. The latest incident occurred during the Atlanta Dream's game against the Chicago Sky, with the score being 86:65 in favour of Atlanta.

The offender was immediately ejected from the arena, and this is not the first time such an incident has occurred. In the past nine days, similar incidents have been reported in Atlanta, Chicago, and Los Angeles.

The league has taken a firm stance against these actions, with the offender facing a minimum one-year ban from league arenas, potential arrest and prosecution by local authorities, and the possibility of fines or jail time if convicted. The WNBA emphasizes that such actions pose serious safety risks to players, officials, and fans.

Players and coaches have widely condemned these incidents. Elizabeth Williams, center for the Sky, called it "super disrespectful" and urged fans to "grow up." Sparks coach Lynne Roberts labeled it "ridiculous," "dumb," and emphasized players' safety as paramount.

Security measures in WNBA arenas include bag searches and often restrictions such as no-bag or clear-bag policies to prevent prohibited items from entering. Despite these measures, incidents have still occurred, leading the league to intensify enforcement and raise awareness among fans about the consequences and dangers of throwing objects on the court.

The repeated nature of these acts has caused concern, with WNBA player Sophie Cunningham questioning the ability of the league to be taken seriously due to these recurring incidents. Cunningham nearly got hit by a sex toy during a game in Los Angeles.

Two men have been arrested in the U.S. states of Georgia and Arizona for throwing sex toys onto WNBA courts. They face charges of disorderly conduct, trespassing, public indecency, and lewd exposure.

The Atlanta Dream, despite the distractions, managed to win their game against the Chicago Sky with a significant margin of 21 points. The league continues to condemn these incidents and work towards enhancing arena security protocols to ensure the safety and respect of all involved in WNBA games.
