Tour de France Femmes 2025: Stage 3 Recap

After an action-packed third stage of the Tour de France Femmes, Marianne Vos (Visma-Lease a Bike) has regained the yellow jersey (maillot jaune). The stage, spanning 163.5km from La Gacilly to Angers, was won by Lorena Wiebes (SD Worx-Protime), but it was Vos who made the significant gains.

As the peloton began to work their way into the breakaway advantage, the gap dropped from 4'45" to 4'08". However, the chase of Vanpachtenbeke seemed to be fading. Kim Le Court-Pienaar (AG Insurance-Soudal), who started the day wearing the yellow jersey, found herself caught behind a late crash and missed the final sprint, losing the lead.

Going into today, the General Classification (GC) was finely balanced, with Vos and Le Court on the exact same time. But Vos' strategic moves have propelled her to the top of the standings, leading by 6 seconds ahead of Le Court. Pauline Ferrand-Prévot (Visma-Lease a Bike) is 12 seconds behind Vos in the GC standings.

Nine riders, including Alison Jackson (EF Education-Oatly), Clemence Latimer (Arkea-B&B Hotels), Sara Martin (Movistar), and Catalina Soto (Labora Kutxa-Fundacion Euskadi), formed a break and maintained a small gap on the peloton. The chase of these leaders was led by Franziska Brauße and Alison Avoine, who managed to close the 1'40" gap.

The stage featured only one mountain sprint, the category 4 Côte de la Richardière, which was completed with Alison Jackson (CAN) earning 2 points and Sara Martin (ESP) earning 1 point. If Marianne Vos takes any bonus seconds today, she will reclaim yellow from Le Court.

Elisa Longo Borghini has abandoned the Tour de France Femmes 2025 due to gastrointestinal issues. Lorena Wiebes could jump up to joint 4th in GC with bonus seconds and give herself the chance of taking yellow tomorrow.

As the race progresses, the competition remains intense, with riders battling it out for every second. The fourth stage promises to be another exciting chapter in this historic edition of the Tour de France Femmes.

With the second stage win, Lorena Wiebes moves up the General Classification and scores a chance to snatch the yellow jersey if Marianne Vos fails to gain bonus seconds tomorrow. The fierce competition continues as riders strive for every position during the Tour de France Femmes 2025.

Despite Elisa Longo Borghini's withdrawal due to gastrointestinal issues, the sports event continues to captivate audiences with its riveting stage races and strategic maneuvers by the leading riders.
