In a shocking incident, an unidentified person allegedly threw red paint on the statue of Meenatai Thackeray in Mumbai's Shiva Park area on Tuesday. The act, which took place around 10 a.m., triggered strong reactions from Shiv Sena (UBT) workers, who viewed it as a deliberate attempt to provoke unrest.

Uddhav Thackeray, the Shiv Sena (UBT) chief, visited the site and condemned the act, urging his supporters to maintain peace. In a possible link to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Uddhav Thackeray suggested that the incident could be politically motivated. However, no specific individual or group has been officially identified as behind the act yet.

Bharatiya Janata Party leader Praveen Darekar condemned the incident but warned against politicizing it. Shiv Sena (UBT) lawmaker Mahesh Sawant suggested the statue defacement could be a response to the party's 'My Sindoor, My Country' protest.

The nearest camera does not directly capture the pedestal or the bust, making identification difficult. Police have set up three teams to identify the individuals responsible for defacing the statue. Mumbai Police are examining CCTV footage and mobile data in the Shiva area as part of their investigation.

Heavy security has been deployed in the area to prevent any untoward situation. Yogesh Kadam, Minister of state for home and Eknath Shinde faction leader, ordered the police to expedite the investigation into the incident. MNS chief Raj Thackeray also visited the site shortly after the incident to take stock of the situation.

Yogesh Kadam stated that the incident is an emotional issue for Shiv Sena workers as Meenatai Thackeray was considered like a mother to them. The Bhim Army protested strongly and demanded the quick arrest of the accused responsible for painting the statue red.

Sena (UBT) leader Anil Desai alleged the incident reflects the failure of the state government. Uddhav Thackeray recalled a similar incident that had taken place 18 years ago, which had also led to widespread outrage.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are now analyzing footage from nearby locations to track potential suspects. The statue and the surrounding Shiva area have been cleaned, and normalcy has been restored. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining peace and unity in society.
