Dispute Over River: Ian Subiabre was not part of the renewal deal, he was airlifted to Tucumán without his contract and was denied the opportunity to compete in the Under 20 World Championship for Chile.
River Plate is currently embroiled in negotiations with several of its players, most notably Claudio Paul Caniggia and Ian Subiabre, as the club seeks to secure their future and raise the release clauses for both players.
The negotiation with Subiabre's representative is currently stalled over the exit clause amount, with the club aiming to increase it to 100 million euros. However, River has made it clear that they will not loan Subiabre for the Chile U20 World Cup if he does not sign a renewal, as he is the only River player called up for the tournament. Subiabre's current contract expires in December 2026.
Meanwhile, the talks between Caniggia, River, and the Argentine Football Association (AFA) will continue over the weekend, with a decision expected between Monday and Tuesday. The negotiations are also centred around the release clause, with the club wanting to raise the figure to the same amount.
In positive news, River has secured the signatures of several promising young players. Facundo González, Agustín Lucas Obregón, and Joaquín Flores have all extended their contracts with the club, with González committing until December 31, 2028. Obregón, a 2006-born left-footed central defender, is one of the new additions to River's youth setup.
Many of River's youth players are expected to feature in the upcoming match against Atlético Tucumán, as most of the players who played against Palmeiras will rest. Jeremías Ledesma will be River's goalkeeper for the match.
Unfortunately, Leonel Jaime, a 19-year-old left winger, has rejected River's proposal to sign his first contract. The club had hoped to secure his services, but Jaime has opted to explore other opportunities.
In the meantime, Marcelo Gallardo's decision not to include Ian Subiabre in the team for the match against Atlético Tucumán despite his availability for the U20 World Cup in Chile remains a mystery. The club has not provided any information regarding this matter.
As the negotiations continue and the season progresses, River fans will be eagerly awaiting updates on their favourite players and the club's future plans.
