Dispute over Illicit IPL Gambling Surfaces in Maharashtra Legislative Council

In a series of shocking allegations, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Ambadas Danve has accused senior officials of the Mumbai Police Department of shielding individuals involved in betting on Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket matches. Danve, who made these allegations in the Vidhan Parishad, also mentioned the names of police officers who are allegedly involved in the betting operations.

The allegations concern large-scale betting on IPL cricket matches and involve individuals involved in betting on IPL cricket matches. According to Danve, Pakistani players are also involved in the alleged betting. However, it's important to note that there are no verified reports or credible sources indicating allegations of IPL betting in Mumbai under police protection involving Pakistani players.

The latest related incident found concerns the theft of IPL jerseys worth Rs 6.5 lakh from the BCCI office at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. The prime accused was a security guard who stole jerseys reportedly to fund his online gambling addiction. This case is being investigated by the Marine Drive police and involves allegations of insider theft and unauthorized sales, with an ongoing probe including examination of CCTV footage.

Regarding IPL-related online betting apps, the Supreme Court of India has recently treated the growth of these platforms as an issue of public importance. Ongoing hearings and notices have been issued to the central government seeking regulation or a ban of illegal betting platforms. The Court is examining whether these betting apps constitute gambling or are games of skill, but there is no mention of police protection or Pakistani players involved in betting scandals.

In the 2013 IPL, the Delhi Police arrested three cricketers, Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila, and Ankeet Chavan, on charges of alleged spot-fixing and betting. In a separate case, Mumbai Police had arrested Vindu Dara Singh, Priyank Sepany, and Chennai Super Kings team principal Gurunath Maiyappan for alleged betting.

Mehul Jain, Kamlesh Jain, and Hiren Jain have connections with Pakistani cricket players, according to Ambadas Danve, but there is no evidence to suggest that they are involved in any current IPL betting scandals.

It's crucial to emphasize that all allegations made by Ambadas Danve are yet to be verified and substantiated. As this is a sensitive and controversial topic, we will continue to monitor for updates or deeper news searches to provide you with the latest information.
