Dispute ensues between city and county over jurisdiction of Bremer Street

In the heart of the Rosengarten community, a contentious issue has arisen concerning the planned redesign of Bremen Street. The Honorary Mayors of the villages, Andreas Schubert and Mathias Bonow, have reported that the congestion from redirected traffic is already having a significant impact on the villages of Leversen-Sieversen and Ehestorf-Alvesen.

The CDU county and district factions, along with the Hamburg parliament, have shown a united front in their concerns. Christian Horend, the business manager of the CDU county faction in Harburg, has questioned the senator's understanding of the reality in Harburg, while Rainer Bliefernicht, the chairman of the CDU in Harburg, supports the renovation of Bremen Street but suggests postponing it until the construction work on the A7 is completed and the A26 is finished.

Dr. Anjes Tjarks, the responsible senator, plans construction work with closures or restrictions for parts of the Cuxhavener Straße and the Marmstorf highway exit during the two-year construction phase in the Bremen Street area. Navigation systems are directing traffic through the villages of the Rosengarten community when main routes are closed, causing concern among the honorary mayors who doubt whether the road network in Harburg can handle the redirected traffic during a prolonged closure of Bremen Street.

An inquiry by André Trepoll, a member of the parliament, has revealed that the Senate expects a significant shift in traffic to the Winsener Straße and B73. Meanwhile, it appears that the traffic flow on Cuxhavener Straße will only be affected in the city-bound direction during the construction phase, according to Dr. Tjarks' expectations.

As the construction phase approaches, it is crucial to keep a close eye on the situation and monitor the impact on local traffic patterns. Local government traffic reports, municipal planning documents for Harburg, and local news sources that specifically cover Bremen Street’s redesign and its impact on traffic are valuable resources for staying informed.

  1. Other local news outlets should cover the political discussions surrounding the traffic concerns in the Rosengarten community, as the CDU factions have expressed their concerns about the planned redesign of Bremen Street and its potential impact on the general news of Harburg.
  2. General-news sources should report on the other affected villages, such as Leversen-Sieversen and Ehestorf-Alvesen, to provide a broader perspective on the impact of the Bremen Street redesign, as the Honorary Mayors of these villages are already experiencing a significant impact from redirected traffic.
