Dispute between Aiyedatiwa and the Deputy Governor Reportedly Addressed by Ondo Government
The Ondo State Government has categorically denied reports suggesting a political rift between Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and his Deputy, Olayide Adelami. In a series of official statements and denials, the government labelled these claims as "blatant falsehood" and "yellow journalism."
Reports circulating online, primarily by Sahara Reporters, alleged that Deputy Governor Adelami was denied access to his official lodge and forced to reside in substandard accommodation. However, the government has clarified that Governor Aiyedatiwa had ordered renovations of the deputy governor’s official residence, which have been completed. Adelami continues to speak positively of the governor both publicly and privately.
John Akinduro, Press Secretary to Deputy Governor Adelami, has refuted these allegations, stating that there is no truth to the reports of a rift between the two leaders. Akinduro emphasised that Adelami has consistently praised Aiyedatiwa's leadership style and described him as committed to democratic ideals and possessing an "amiable disposition."
The government has stressed that the claims of a disagreement between Governor Aiyedatiwa and Deputy Governor Adelami are lies aimed at creating public mistrust. They urge those behind divisive propaganda to desist and support the administration's efforts to deliver on its vision for a better Ondo State.
Dr Adelami has demonstrated his loyalty to his principal remains absolute, according to Akinduro. The deputy governor has often lauded Aiyedatiwa's leadership and shared a bond of mutual respect with the governor.
In summary, the most authoritative sources, including official government communications and Deputy Governor Adelami's own statements, clearly refute the claim of a political rift between Governor Aiyedatiwa and Deputy Governor Adelami. Adelami does not reside in what the report described as a "ramshackle hotel," and there was never a time when he was barred from his lodge. The government encourages the public to disregard such misleading reports and support the administration's efforts to build a prosperous Ondo State.
