"Disney's 'Pirates of the Caribbean' series makes an appearance within the Battle Royale mode of Fortnite"
Fortnite's latest update, v30.20, brings a thrilling pirate-themed crossover to its Battle Royale mode, titled "Cursed Sails." This event immerses players in a swashbuckling adventure filled with pirate-themed content.
Ship in a Bottle
One of the most intriguing additions is the Ship in a Bottle, an interactive element that players can discover. This item, reminiscent of the iconic ships from the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, could serve as a collectible or display piece in the game.
Shipwreck Shallows
A new Point of Interest (POI) has been added to the Fortnite map—Shipwreck Shallows. This shipwreck location offers an exciting exploration experience, fitting perfectly with the pirate and sea adventure theme.
Buried Treasure
The event also features buried treasures scattered across the map. These treasures, including the Flint-Knock Pistol and other loot, can be found in Chests or lying on the ground.
Cursed Sails Quests
Players can take on a series of quests under the Cursed Sails banner. These quests, which may involve finding treasure, battling enemy pirates, or navigating shipwrecks, offer a new and exciting challenge.
Jack's Ship Glider
The highlight of the event is the Jack's Ship Glider, a glider that represents the Black Pearl, Captain Jack Sparrow’s ship from Pirates of the Caribbean. Players can unlock this glider by collecting all eight Map Pieces, which are earned by completing four Quests in each of the eight Pirate Codes.
Other Features
- Pirate Cannons have been unvaulted and can be found around Shipwreck Shallows. These cannons can be used to launch players a great distance or roll them to a prime destination to launch a teammate.
- Different types of vessels will be available for players to use in their adventure for buried treasure.
- Players can earn Cursed Gold by completing Cursed Sails Quests. This gold can be used to unlock items from the Cursed Sails Pass.
- The spectral ship from the Ship in a Bottle can dive into opponents with a devastating crash and can also be used to attack landlubbers from the crow's nest.
The event runs until August 6 at 1 a.m. PT, giving players plenty of time to explore Shipwreck Shallows, hunt for buried treasure, and complete Cursed Sails Quests. In-game purchases are available for those who wish to extend their pirate adventure beyond the event.
