Disney prepares for the premiere of Eyes of Wakanda on their platform
Disney+ has announced the release date for the highly anticipated animated series, "Eyes of Wakanda". The show, produced by Proximity Media's Zinzi Coogler, Sev Ohanian, and Kalia King, will be available on the streaming platform earlier than originally anticipated.
Set in the Black Panther universe, "Eyes of Wakanda" is an action-adventure that follows the adventures of brave Wakandan warriors throughout history. The series is co-developed by Ryan Coogler and helmed by director/executive producer Todd Harris, who has worked on celebrated franchises such as John Wick and the MCU.
The enemies of Wakanda in the series are referred to as the Hatut Zaraze. The show features the voices of Winnie Harlow, Cress Williams, Patricia Belcher, Larry Herron, Adam Gold, Lynn Whitfield, Jacques Colimon, Jona Xiao, Isaac Robinson-Smith, Gary Anthony Williams, Zeke Alton, Steve Toussaint, and Anika Noni Rose.
"Eyes of Wakanda" is the first series of Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The heroes in the series are tasked with retrieving Vibranium artifacts from the enemies of Wakanda. The series was initially unveiled at the Annecy International Animation Festival in June.
Coogler, Brad Winderbaum, Kevin Feige, Louis D'Esposito, and Dana Vasquez-Eberhardt serve as executive producers on the show. Harris has been a close collaborator to director Ryan Coogler, first as a storyboard artist on Black Panther and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever then as an illustrator on Sinners before directing "Eyes of Wakanda".
The series features hand-painted Afro-futuristic animation and tells stories of Wakandan warriors across history. All four episodes of the series will be available at launch on Disney+ from August 1, 2025. Get ready for an exciting journey into the heart of Wakanda!
