Disney Plus is delving into the world of dating shows with the revival of the iconic 'Blind Date', originally presented by Cilla Black on ITV from 1985 to 2003. The streaming service has announced two new series, including 'The Rooneys' and 'Jamie and Sophie: Raising Chelsea', along with the return of 'Blind Date'.

The revamped 'Blind Date' promises to capture some of the magic that saw the original series attract 18 million viewers in its heyday. Contestants will once again choose potential suitors hidden behind the iconic "Blind Date" wall, but with some innovative twists. For instance, contestants will spend the summer living together, and new potential partners will always be lurking behind the wall.

However, no host has been announced for the new series of 'Blind Date'. The original series was famously presented by Cilla Black, who passed away in 2015 at the age of 72. A brief reboot was hosted by Paul O'Grady between 2017 and 2019, but it remains unclear if Disney Plus will opt for a returning host or someone new. It's also uncertain whether the new show will feature someone providing commentary or witty summaries like in the original format.

The new series of 'Blind Date' consists of 10 parts, each 45 minutes long, and production is set to begin later this year. Disney Plus aims to bring a unique, head-turning format to the table, but no details about these twists have been disclosed yet.

In addition to 'Blind Date', Disney Plus is also launching 'The Rooneys', an observational doc-series about Coleen and Wayne Rooney as they "step into a new chapter of their lives". Unfortunately, Disney Plus has not revealed when these three shows will be released.

Meanwhile, Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo are also set to star in their own series, 'Jamie and Sophie: Raising Chelsea', as they "embrace their latest challenge and greatest joy to date... parenthood".
