Disney Planning Debut of First Mideast Theme Park

In a significant move for the global entertainment industry, Disney announced the development of a new tech-centric theme park in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, back in May 2025 [1]. The park, which is currently under construction or in the advanced planning stage, is expected to open its doors sometime in the early 2030s [3].

Located on Yas Island’s northwest coast, the park will be a collaboration between Disney and local leisure and entertainment company Miral, the same entity responsible for operating SeaWorld and Warner Bros World on Yas Island [4]. The project involves close collaboration with Walt Disney Imagineering, ensuring the park will blend contemporary architecture with cutting-edge technology.

The park's construction is a testament to Disney's international expansion strategy, which began with a park in Tokyo in 1983, followed by Disneyland Paris in 1992, Hong Kong in 2005, and the most recent park in Shanghai in 2016. The Abu Dhabi park will mark Disney's fifth international theme park, further solidifying its global presence.

While no specific opening date has been confirmed yet, construction updates and government announcements continue to hint at the general launch timeline. Given that large-scale Disney theme parks typically require several years for design and construction, the early 2030s timeframe aligns with industry standards.

Meanwhile, Disney's international theme park attendance, according to Hugh Johnston, chief financial officer, is still in the double digits but has not yet reached pre-COVID levels. However, the park in the United Arab Emirates is experiencing increased domestic attendance.

In addition to the theme park announcement, it was revealed that Disney+ gained 1.4 million customers in the first three months of 2025. Bob Iger, CEO of Disney, described the new park as Disney's most tech-centric park to date, promising an immersive and innovative experience for visitors.

Concept art for the new park has been released, offering a glimpse into the future of Disney entertainment. The video above showcases the park's stunning design, promising a memorable experience for all who visit.

As the construction progresses, the world eagerly awaits the opening of this tech-centric Disney theme park, a testament to Disney's commitment to innovation and entertainment.
