Disney Discontinues Goosebumps Series After 2 Seasons
The popular horror anthology series Goosebumps came to an end on Disney+ in January 2025, but the story may not be over yet. Sony Pictures Television, the show's producer, is actively seeking new outlets to continue the series, potentially with a third season on a different streaming service or network.
The second season of Goosebumps premiered in January 2025 with all 8 episodes released on the same day. The series, which draws inspiration from various stories in R.L. Stine's books, features a main cast including Zack Morris, Isa Briones, Miles McKenna, Will Price, Ana Yi Puig, Justin Long, Rachael Harris, and Ana Ortiz, who joined in a recurring role for the second season.
In the first season, five high school students find themselves entangled in a chilling mystery tied to a teenager who died decades ago. Actor David Schwimmer, known for his role as Ross in Friends, joined the cast in a recurring role for the second season. Each episode of Goosebumps is between 30 and 50 minutes long.
The series debuted on Disney+ in October 2023 with new episodes releasing weekly. Hilary Winston served as the executive producer and showrunner, along with other exec producers Neal H. Moritz and Pavun Shetty from Original Film. Nicholas Stoller and Rob Letterman, creators of the television adaptation, also served as executive producers.
While Disney+ has officially ended its involvement, Sony Pictures Television's plan to shop the show around indicates ongoing interest in continuing the Goosebumps franchise in some form. Alongside this, a new original stealth-adventure video game titled Goosebumps: Terror in Little Creek is set for release in late August 2025 on multiple platforms, offering fans an interactive experience inspired by R.L. Stine’s series.
In Season 2, fraternal twins move in with their divorced botanist father and uncover unsettling events. The series, produced by Sony Pictures Television, is not returning for a third season on Disney+. However, fans can look forward to the upcoming Goosebumps video game releasing imminently.
As for potential future adaptations, some fans have proposed story ideas based on classic book stories that remained untapped by the Disney+ series, but these are speculative and not official plans. The series producer is reportedly exploring other creative options, leaving the door open for new seasons or adaptations on another platform.
