Disney demanded the omission of F-bombs in King of the Hill's content, according to its showrunner, who dismisses the absence as insignificant as he doesn't favor shows that heavily incorporate such explicit language.
In a surprising turn of events, the recent revival of the beloved animated series, King of the Hill, has seen a change in its language due to its move to streaming on Hulu, now under the umbrella of Disney Plus.
Saladin K. Patterson, the showrunner of King of the Hill, has expressed his reservations about shows that push the envelope with cursing. However, he praised Hulu executives for their efforts in recapturing the original show's essence, despite the limitations encountered during the production of the 14th season.
One of the significant changes in the 14th season is the removal of instances of the F-word, a move that was not necessary during the show's original 13-season run on Fox. This change was a result of Disney's family-friendly content standards, which are stricter than those of Fox.
Despite these changes, the series continues to carry its trademark style and humor, now debuting exclusively on Hulu and Hulu via Disney+. The characters, including Bobby, who has a new job as a chef in a Japanese fusion restaurant, and the Hill family, the main characters, return together in very different circumstances.
Our review of King of the Hill season 14 praises the renewed connection between viewers and characters. The series, despite the language restrictions, manages to maintain its charm and wit, making it a must-watch for fans of the original show.
As for the future, the merger of Hulu into Disney Plus is scheduled for next year. It remains to be seen how this change will impact the content of King of the Hill and other shows on Hulu.
