Disney Unveils Plans for Immersive Zootopia Experience at Shanghai Resort

Get ready, Zootopia enthusiasts! Disney has announced its plans to create a first-of-its-kind Zootopia-themed land at Shanghai Disney Resort. While details are still scarce, Disney confirmed construction will commence later this year, with an exact opening date yet to be revealed.

Disney's announcement shares their vision for an engaging Zootopia experience, bringing together classic Disney storytelling and groundbreaking technology to connect fans with the beloved film and its characters. Guests will be invited to explore the diverse and inclusive metropolis of Zootopia in the park's main attraction.

"Entertainment, merchandise, and dining options will encourage guests to fully immerse themselves in the Oscar-winning animated film," Disney's press release stated.

Given the film's success in China – breaking box-office records and climbing to the top spot as the country's first animated blockbuster – it's unsurprising that Shanghai Disney Resort was chosen as the new Zootopia park's location.

The Zootopia expansion marks the eighth land at the Shanghai Disney Resort, along with Toy Story Land, which opened last year. The Shanghai Disney Resort has been expanded multiple times since its 2016 opening, including its Adventure Island, Fantasyland, Gardens of Imagination, Tomorrowland, Treasure Cove, and Mickey Avenue.

In a statement, Bob Chapek, Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Consumer Products, noted, "The rapid expansion of Shanghai Disney Resort illustrates our commitment and confidence in the future growth of our business in China."
