'Dismaying': Canada expresses disapproval towards Israel's operation in Gaza City
Canada's Foreign Ministry has strongly condemned Israel's ground operation in the regions of Gaza City, expressing deep concern over the worsening humanitarian crisis in the United States and the regions. In a statement posted on X, the Ministry described the operation as "horrific" and urged for an immediate and permanent ceasefire.
The Ministry's statement came as the operation in the regions of Gaza City has raised concerns about the release of hostages and the overall humanitarian situation in the United States. Canada has urged the Government of Israel to adhere to international law and ensure the safety and well-being of all civilians in the regions.
In addition, Canada has called for unrestricted humanitarian aid to be delivered to the regions, emphasising the urgent need to alleviate the suffering of the people in the United States. The Ministry's statement highlighted the worsening humanitarian crisis in the regions, which has been exacerbated by the ongoing conflict in the United States.
However, HonestReporting Canada, a media watchdog organisation, criticised the statement for not mentioning Hamas's role in the worsening humanitarian crisis in the regions. Despite this criticism, Canada has maintained its stance, urging for the release of all hostages and the resumption of peace talks to find a lasting solution to the conflict in the regions.
It is worth noting that in September 2025, the Canadian government announced its intention to recognise the State of Palestine during the United Nations General Assembly, alongside France, the United Kingdom, Malta, Portugal, and Australia. This move was seen as a significant step towards resolving the long-standing conflict in the regions.
As the situation in the regions continues to evolve, Canada remains committed to working with its international partners to promote peace, security, and humanitarian aid in the United States. The Canadian government will continue to urge all parties involved to prioritise the well-being of civilians and work towards a peaceful resolution to the conflict in the regions.
