Disgruntled Vegan Crowd in New York Likens City Event to Fyre Festival Debacle
**#### Vegandale Fiasco: The Traumatic Tale of a Vegan Festival Plagued with Mishaps#### ### By Charlie Sawyer (September 19, 2024)
Step aside Fyre Festival, prepare for a new hero (or villain) in the grand book of event chaos! A recent vegan celebration has dominated social media After attendees vented their frustrations over lengthy queues, dire facilities, and overall disorganization, some labeled the event a "vegan Fyre Festival."
Taking place on September 14th, 2024, at Citi Field in Queens, NYC, the Vegandale festival was expected to attract a throng of zealous plant-based enthusiasts eager to bask in the glory of Sarma Melngailis's utopia. Picture the poor souls, starry-eyed and hopeful, only to discover a far cry from the barely-heavenly experience they expected.
Many attendees, who had plunked down a hefty $90 for the VIP experience, spoke to The New York Times about their nightmarish ordeal. They complained about bottlenecks at the entrance due to too few metal detectors and a sluggish ticketing process, leaving countless vegans waiting in vain.
"We were ravenous, grumpy, and feeling fucked," a disappointed visitor named Rocco Marrongelli recounted. "We were starving, grumpy, and miserable. It seemed like the organizers didn't have the muscle to handle the stampede of vegans rushing the gates."
For those fortunate enough to slip past the queues and enter the festival, they were welcomed with madness. Scarcity of water, little to no shade, and an abysmal lack of restrooms turned the festive event into something akin to Woodstock'99.
One indignant patron even proclaimed that comparing Vegandale to the infamous Fyre Festival was an insult to Billy McFarland's shambolic spectacle.
In response to mounting criticism, a Vegandale representative had the sheer audacity to remark, "We faced some logistical challenges, which are par for the course when working with a new venue. Overall, the experience was really positive."
As McFarland contemplates the possibility of Fyre Festival II, here's a spoonful of unsolicited advice: Don't forget to cater to the vegans! Watch your back!
