In the Gaya district of Bihar, a shocking incident of school violence unfolded during ongoing classes, as a teacher named Rakesh Ranjan Srivastava was brutally assaulted by angry parents.

The incident began when Mr. Srivastava, a dedicated educator, intervened in a fight between two Class 5 students. In an attempt to maintain order, he slapped both boys involved in the scuffle. One of the boys then informed his parents about the incident, which led to an enraged group storming into the school.

Upon arrival, the parents, fueled by anger, began attacking Mr. Srivastava with their fists and sticks. The assault was witnessed by staff members and students, causing panic among the young learners who ran and hid wherever they felt safe.

A female teacher, who pleaded with the parents to spare Mr. Srivastava and others, was also attacked. Injured and distraught, Mr. Srivastava and another teacher, Dharmendra Kumar, were admitted to the hospital for treatment of injuries sustained to the hand and waist.

The school's headmaster, Pankaj Kumar, strongly condemned the incident, calling it an assault not only on Mr. Srivastava but also on the education system. He emphasised the importance of both children's education and teacher safety, and called for strict action against those responsible.

A case was registered by the police following Mr. Srivastava's complaint, and an investigation is currently underway. The headmaster reiterated that such incidents undermine the very foundation of education and threaten the safety of teachers, a crucial component in the learning process.

This unfortunate event serves as a stark reminder of the need for respect and understanding in our schools, fostering a safe and nurturing environment for our children to learn and grow.
