Montreal, Quebec – As the city gears up for an exciting summer of theatre, several intriguing productions have been announced. However, a closer look at the lineup reveals no trace of three anticipated shows: "Star Wars d'icitte. A Sith and his fishing rod," its sequel, "Les Incouchables," and "Les (in)Séparables."
While popular events such as Shakespeare-in-the-Park, Place des Arts, and Théâtre Jean-Duceppe have unveiled their 2025-2026 seasons, showcasing a variety of Canadian original works, comedies, dramas, and classical adaptations, these three productions remain conspicuously absent.
Similarly, major theatre festivals like Theatre Passe Muraille and Comiccon Montréal, while offering a plethora of pop culture celebrations and fan conventions, do not seem to include these shows in their programming.
However, there is a glimmer of hope for fans of these productions. "Star Wars d'icitte. A Sith and his fishing rod" is slated to be performed at Salle Fenplast on July 17 and 18, and at Théâtre La Comédie from July 23 to 27. The play, a parody of the Star Wars saga by Les Productions de l'Épopée, is directed by Jean-François Guilbault and Caroline Guyot.
Meanwhile, "Les (in)Séparables" will return to the studio-théâtre du Centre Bonne Aventure from July 18 to August 2. This Cirque du Soleil tribute show, focusing on the musical universe of Daniel Bélanger, is known for its captivating acrobatics, including rope, suspended mat, and Cyr wheel.
As for "Les Incouchables," it will be performed at the Amphithéâtre Cogeco from July 16 to August 16. The play, set in a time-travel journey with a pioneering journalist and a bicycle telegram messenger as main characters, is staged within a heritage building featuring video projections that bring historical figures to life around the two characters.
Other intriguing productions on the horizon include "The Fence," a play that unfolds at Dalhousie Station and combines interpreters' play with the fascinating art of object theatre. The show, currently running at Centre de création Boisbriand until August 23, is directed by Mathieu Quesnel.
Another noteworthy production is "Sew Themselves Together," a fantastical epic about two summer camp friends who sew themselves together. This co-production between L'Arrière-Scène, Barbaque compagnie, and Théâtre de la Petite Mare promises a unique blend of humour and heartwarming storytelling.
In conclusion, while "Star Wars d'icitte. A Sith and his fishing rod," its sequel, "Les Incouchables," and "Les (in)Séparables" do not currently appear in the publicly available lineups for upcoming Montreal theatre productions, fans of these shows are encouraged to keep a close eye on specialized theatre websites, production company announcements, and local cultural calendars for future updates.
"Despite their absence in public lineups for upcoming Montreal theatre productions, 'Star Wars d'icitte. A Sith and his fishing rod' and its sequel have official performance dates at Salle Fenplast and Théâtre La Comédie. 'Les (in)Séparables' will also be returning to the studio-théâtre du Centre Bonne Aventure."
"While 'Les Incouchables' is not currently included in the programming for major theatre festivals or listed in the 2025-2026 seasons of popular venues, it will be performed at the Amphithéâtre Cogeco from July 16 to August 16."
