Discussions held in Nizhny Novgorod concerning local residents' plans for choosing facilities in Kanvin for the year 2026

In the heart of Nizhny Novgorod, the Kanavinsky District is gearing up for eight exciting community-driven projects under the "You Decide!" initiative. This participatory budgeting project, which encourages local residents to propose and vote on projects that improve their neighbourhoods, is set to make a significant impact in the district.

The deadline for regional residents to submit their applications to participate in the project is fast approaching, with September 15 marking the end of the application period. The initiative, which is part of the governor's project of initiative budgeting, has already seen over 14,000 residents cast their votes for these eight projects.

The projects, once selected, will focus on enhancing public spaces, such as parks and playgrounds. They will also include repair and modernization of sidewalks and pedestrian zones, installation of street lighting and safety features, development of sports facilities and recreational areas, and the enhancement of local cultural and community centers.

Some examples of successful project implementations include the children's playground built at house No. 22 on Akimova Street and the beautified territory of house No. 17 on Karl Marx Street, both of which received a total regional subsidy of over 7 million rubles. These positive examples were highlighted by Deputy Innа Vankina during a recent workshop held in the district.

The workshop, attended by activists and the head of the Kanavinsky District, Artem Ivanov, provided specific recommendations on choosing objects, filling out applications, and organizing voting for initiatives. Deputy Vankina also encouraged active participation in the project, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in shaping the future of their neighbourhoods.

Since 2021, 49 proposals from Nizhny Novgorod residents have been implemented in the Kanavinsky District under the "You Decide!" initiative. The press service of the City Duma reported the event, underscoring the growing interest and participation in this democratic approach to budgeting and community development.

For more detailed information about the upcoming projects specifically approved for the Kanavinsky District in 2026, residents are encouraged to check official Kanavinsky District or Nizhny Novgorod municipal announcements or their official participatory budgeting portals. These platforms will provide finalized project lists after public voting.

The "You Decide!" initiative continues to empower local residents, fostering a sense of ownership and pride in their neighbourhoods. By participating in this project, residents have the opportunity to shape their community's future, making it a more vibrant, safe, and enjoyable place to live.
