Sources close to the Kazakh Foreign Ministry's press service divulged that the duo tackled essential points of collaboration between Kazakhstan and the UNRCCA, regional security matters, sustainable development, and upcoming joint initiatives.

Nurtleu highlighted the importance of the UNRCCA in fostering discourse among Central Asian nations and Kazakhstan's ongoing commitment to fostering a unified and meaningful regional agenda.

He mentioned how President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has emphasized the UN's central role in addressing today's global challenges, particularly in the face of increasing geopolitical turbulence.

In light of the UN's 80th anniversary, Nurtleu reaffirmed Kazakhstan's support for the global UN80 initiative, which aims to reassess the organization's role in today's world. He further emphasized Kazakhstan's efforts to kindle renewed multilateralism, reinforce alliances with the UN, and devise regional strategies to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

As a result, both parties agreed to bolster the relationship between the UNRCCA and the new UN Regional Center for the SDGs for Central Asia and Afghanistan in Almaty. The establishment of this center was endorsed by the UN General Assembly resolution on March 4.

Imnadze expressed gratitude for Kazakhstan's continual support of the UNRCCA and acknowledged its contributions to intra-regional dialogue. Both sides committed to advancing a common goal under the UN mandate and wished each other prosperous partnerships.

With the establishment of the UN Regional Center for the SDGs in Almaty, the focus will be on achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, with a special emphasis on climate action, water management, and energy transition. The center will also aim to foster regional integration, strengthen cooperation among Central Asian states and Afghanistan, and contribute to efforts to address security challenges and promote trust-building measures.

The center will also address humanitarian needs in Afghanistan while working towards regional economic connectivity. These goals are in line with the ongoing discussions about Kazakh-Afghan trade and aid partnerships.
