Discuss with Bosbach: CDU proposes path to illumination

In the ongoing investigation into allegations against Caroline Bosbach, a Member of Parliament, the CDU and the Cologne Public Prosecutor's Office are working diligently to uncover the truth.

The CDU county board of Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis has expressed concern over the publicly reported allegations, which include a sham invoice for 2,500 euros linked to Bosbach’s 2025 election campaign, and an allegation of offering a payment of 90 euros for party membership to influence a vote in the Mittelstands- und Wirtschaftsunion (MIT) in 2023.

Bosbach has denied all accusations but has not responded personally to the CDU county board’s inquiries. The CDU board has requested written answers from her by a specified deadline and plans another meeting to evaluate the situation.

The CDU is relying on the ongoing investigations by the Cologne Public Prosecutor's Office. The evidence refuting the accusation of a sham invoice and vote-buying will be inspected by the CDU district manager and an independent auditor in the next few days. County manager Lennart Hoering and an independent auditor will examine the evidence.

Bosbach has taken remedial action by repaying the disputed funds, transferring a donation of 2,500 euros to the CDU to counteract any impression of enrichment. However, no definitive legal or judicial outcomes have been publicly reported as of now, indicating that the matter remains under active investigation.

The CDU county chairman, Hermann-Josef Tebroke, does not express a vote of confidence for Bosbach but criticizes media pre-judgment, which he believes violates the principles of the rule of law. Tebroke emphasized that further steps have been agreed upon to ensure transparency and clarification.

In a recent meeting with three members of the CDU county board, Bosbach did not address the accusations of the sham invoice and vote-buying. Instead, she expressed regret for trusting many people during the Bundestag election campaign, unfortunately including the wrong ones.

Bosbach also emphasized that she has not enriched herself and deeply regrets that the media coverage surrounding her person and the unfounded allegations made against her have also burdened election campaigners and volunteer local politicians.

The current status of the investigation into Bosbach's allegations involves ongoing scrutiny and unanswered questions. The CDU and Cologne Public Prosecutor's Office are determined to pursue investigation and clarification, but no formal conclusion or legal ruling has been announced yet.

  1. As the CDU county board of Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis expresses concern over Bosbach's allegations, there is a growing interest in the policy-and-legislation aspect of the case, particularly regarding election campaign financing.
  2. In light of the ongoing investigation and the lack of a definitive ruling, politics and general news continue to revolve around the allegations against Bosbach, with the public eagerly awaiting answers and clarification.
