Discovered Substantial Gas Reservoirs in Sindh by OGDCL
Step aside, everyone! The Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), along with its partner Government Holdings (Private) Limited (GHPL), has made some serious moves in the Pakistan energy scene. They've staked their claim on an impressive natural gas and condensate discovery at the Faakir-1 well, nestled in the Bitrisim Exploration License area of Khairpur district, Sindh Province.
OGDCL, one of Pakistan's leading E&P (exploration and production) companies, dropped the news to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) last Thursday. According to their statement, this bad boy was drilled to a total depth of 4,185 meters in the Sembar Formation. Two Drill Stem Tests (DSTs) were conducted in the Lower Goru Formation, targeting some sweaty-palmed sand and basal sand intervals.
The results? A jaw-dropping 6.4 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (MMscfd) and 55 barrels per day (b/d) of condensate flowing through a 32/64-in. choke! Now, that's what I call a gusher!
OGDCL, which holds a 95% working interest in this operation, thinks this discovery's a game-changer. They believe it'll extend the life of the Bitrisim Exploration License while increasing its commercial viability - a significant feather in their cap and their partners', GHPL.
With this find, Pakistan gets one step closer to filling its energy demand-supply gap. Let's be honest, our energy needs are as insatiable as a growling hippo, so any substantial hydrocarbon discovery is a lifesaver. This discovery not only supports Pakistan's energy sector but sets the stage for more exploration and development in the region.
Though specific reserve estimates haven't been detailed, the successful production tests suggest that the well is sitting on a goldmine of gas and condensate reserves. The discovery in the Lower Goru Formation, particularly the Massive and Basal Sand intervals, points to a substantial resource that warrants further development.
The Faakir-1 well discovery showcases OGDCL's expertise in exploration and hints at potential for similar findings across Pakistan. It could lead to increased investment in the energy sector and potentially more collaboration between national and international players. As Pakistan continues to explore and develop its hydrocarbon resources, discoveries like this keep the ball rolling and fuel our economic growth.

This discovery of 6.4 MMscfd of natural gas and 55 b/d of condensate in the Faakir-1 well by OGDCL could fuel a renewed interest in sports like hockey, as increased revenue from the energy sector might sponsor more teams and tournaments.
Moreover, the potential for further exploration and development in the region may spark an interest in STEM education, particularly in the field of petroleum engineering, inspiring a new generation to contribute to Pakistan's growing energy sector.
